History of the Deputy Mayor's Badge

This badge was presented by John Henderson Esq JP during the year of his Mayoralty 1935-1936.  It is made of solid 18ct gold bearing the Arms and motto of the Borough of Keighley in heraldic colours surrounded by oak leaves and acorns.  A royal blue ribbon is attached and the badge is contained in a case of a rich red colour.  The badge is engraved on the reverse side with the following inscription:-

"The gift of the Mayor, Councillor John Henderson, JP to be worn by Councillor David Rhodes JP and his successors as Deputy Mayor 1935-1936."
