Councillor Graham Mitchell was born in Stockbridge and educated at Keigley National School, East Morton CoE Primary School and Bingley Grammar School.  He took an Honours Degree in Geography at Leeds University and obtained his Certificate in Education at Bristol University, teaching successfully at Dudley Boys' Grammar School and Stonyhurst College where he was Head of Geography for 22 years.  Between 2000/06 he worked as Communications Manager for Blazefield Holdings Limited. 

Councillor Mitchell served as Keighley Town Mayor in 2006/07 whilst his mother, Mrs Constance Mitchell, was Town Mayoress.  For the last 3 years he has been Chair of the Watch & Transport Committee.

Graham Mitchell is Chair of Trustees of Keighley Bus Museum, a Vice-President of Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and General Secretary of the National Assocation of Road Transport Museums.
